I'm trying to plan an inter railing holiday with some friends. I'm a bit confused with the types of tickets if I got a 5 day within 10 does it mean that we have to travel within a 10 day period or can it be used outside the first 10 days of our journey!!

Hi Michelle.

A 5 days within 10 ticket means:
You select a period of 10 days = when ordering your ticket at [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] you have to fill in your starting day. and from this starting day, your ticket is valid for 10 days.

for example you chose as starting day the 12th of January: your ticket is valid from (and including) the 12th at 00:01h in the morning until (and including) the 21th January at 23:59h at night. :)

the 5 travel days you can chose whenever you want. you do not have to fix them when ordering your ticket - you can chose them during your travel - so you are very flexible !! :)

there is also a special rule for using night trains (not possible on the first day your ticket is valid): when using a direct night train leaving after 19:00h in the evening, fill in the date of the next travel day - and it counts as only ONE travel day:

Have fun and all the best, Peter :)

I am still confused about the 10 day and 5 day thing.
Does that mean its a total of 15 days or just 10?
