hi!

this summer, we (= two friends of mine & me) are going to do interrail to scandinavia.
perhaps we will make a short trip to Svalbard. now we are looking for a ferry to take us there (to Svalbard, not scandinavia).
Additionally, we would be happy about information whether the interrailticket(global) is valid there.

thanks in advance, uru-guru

ps: if you have experience-reports about Svalbard, please send me. they're rarely available

pps: we're from germany

hej...
there are no discounts to travel to Spitsbergen. as InterRail is a rail ticket and you only get discounts on ferries where they are really needed for rail connections. :)
maybe just have a look at the tourist board of Spitsbergen ... but it will be expensive to travel there...

if you want to visit some exotic places of Europe, try Island (also no discounts for InterRailers). it is really really cheap there at the moment when exchanging your money on the street, not the official way. the reason is the financial situation of the banks there...

hi

to my knowledge there is no ferry up there. Discount airline http://www.norwegian.no flies there, so does http://www.sas.no

http://www.hurtigruten.no/Spitsbergen/ is the only company I know of that sails there, but I think it's just cruises around the island.

Tickets with cruiseships (hurtigruten) can be as much as €10.000-15.000.

The cheapest option is www.norwegian.no (plane).
