Hi, we are 4-5 guys who are going on an interrail trip this summer '09, and we have a couple of questions about our route, and different other things..

This is what we have thought of so far, and the question is if this is realistic, and possible (especially with Barcelona, which is quite far away from the other places)? We are going for around 20-22 days...??? :?:

Copenhagen-
Amsterdam-
Berlin or Paris-
Barcelona-
München-
Prague-
Berlin-
Copenhagen

We have also thought of another route which roughly is...

Copenhagen-
Amsterdam-
Berlin or Paris-
Marseille or Nice-
Interlaken-
München-
Prague-
Berlin-
Copenhagen

What do you think???

Another thing which we would like to ask, is if you can recommend some different cities, places, hostels whatever (and it does not have to be a place on our route!!!! *we should mention that we are looking for great party's, and chilled bars, and beautiful places to visit etc...

Another question is, how many people is it best to be, on an interrail? because we are already 4, but some other people have asked if they can come??

THANKS A LOT FOR ANY RESPONSES AND ADVICES!! :)

Thomas

hej Thomas... :)
just my short opinion .... skip Paris and Barcelona. this year there was contiguents on seats for InterRailers in Spain and France. sometimes in summer it was really hard to get a seat.
so better to stay some more nights in Berlin (go to the part of the city called Friedrichshain with a lot of bars on the street) and add Krakow in Poland (a lot of students and bars and parties) ... maybe travel down from Berlin to Munich then to Vienna (Asutria), Krakow, Prague, Berlin... :)
and by the way... don't forgett this cheap night train connection from Berlin to Malmö:

you will save a lot of time and have a cheap bed !! and Malmö isn't far away from Copenhagen... ;)
have a nice summer and maybe some others here have still more ideas... :)
Peter :)

Thanks a lot for the advice! :) I think we now will add Krakow in Poland (sounds great from your description)!

By the way Peter, if we now drop France (Paris and Nice) and Spain (Barcelona), do you know any good beaches? because, the reason we wanted to go to Barcelona Or Nice, were also for the beach...

mmmh... okay... the beaches.... :)
Barcelona is definitely too far if you only want beaches... then you should go down in the direction of Nice, St. Trophez, or at the direction of Perpignan... but you need a tent then as there are more camp sites than cheap hostels... and sleeping by sleeping bag at the beaches is not allowed (and recommended)... maybe Croatia sounds interesting as well for you... it is cheaper and also very nice... let me know which direction is more interesting for you?
you can reach Croatia by night train (or direct dayy train) directly from Munich. :)

Thanks a lot for your reply again, I (we) appreciate it a lot! :P Okay, so what do you then think of this route, and is it possible for first time interrailers?

CPH
Amsterdam
(with a stop somewhere along, it might be too long???)
Nice
(with a stop somewhere along, it might be too long???)
Ljubljana
Prague
Krakow
Berlin
CPH

???

Regarding what you said with Croatia and beaches, would this route be better?? what are your experiences with the places?? (I should mention that we are all 18 years old)

CPH
Amsterdam
Munich
Croatia (some nice place with a beach??)
Ljubljana
Prague
Krakow
Berlin
CPH

again, thanks for your time and interest :)

I would travel route 2. skip Nice. for some nice places have a look at the CROATIA topic at the forum . by train you can go to Split and then continue by some cheap ferries (see also some topics there) !! :)
