I was wondering, does the pass works for metro or bus or tramway in italy? Does someone knows if transports are expensive in Italy?

Hi,
the pass is not valid on metro or busses. But I was told that public transport in Italy is niet too expensive. I will find out myself since I will go to Italy this summer.
