I tried to search this forum about travelling with baby but couldn't find any (or probably because I didn't use the search tool properly!) But anyway, I hope I didn't make a duplicate post.
I have a 19 months old baby who is going to join me travelling around Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. My main means of transport is train, and I have bought interrail Global Pass for myself.

Am I right to say that my baby can ride for free as long as he sit on my lap?
And, I planned to cross Berlin to Zurich with a night train. Is it okay to have a baby on my couchette? will it be any implication if it is a 6 compartment couchette? (I mean will anyone mind). He is a good sleeper, but doesn't mean he behave like adult and make no noise at all.
Any suggestion are welcome. And many thanks in advance!

hej Jessica ...

no problem to post as there are no topics about travelling with a baby...! :)
here are the answers for you:

1) for normal trains: children under the age of four on their first travel day, travel for free when you as adult are travelling by InterRail!
2) on a citynightline train children under the age of six, travel for free when using the same seat/bed like you. as much as I know there are no special places for persons travelling with children - you are just in a normal compartment.
3) Additional information: https://rail.cc/en/faq/how-to-interrail-with-baby

have fun on your tour and maybe let us know after your tour if it worked well to travel with your baby! :)

Vielen Dank Peter,
I am so relieved with your answer as at first I thought no one had ever done this because it was impossible or something along that line.
Yes, I certainly will let everyone know how my journey goes with interrail.
