Is there any way I can check online as to what is available and how I can book tickets to get, by train, from a particular town in England to a particular town in Switzerland in September?
The websites / apps that I have tried so far tell me that none is available - even if I try Paris to the destination town!

Again-trains are not planes (bookable till 11 month advance) Youyre simply too early. Wait and have patience. In the not too distant past REServ for trains were only there from 2 month advance-in PL by now even still 30 days.
All these fears that trains are assumed to be full so long advance denies any reasonable look on how this world works.

You should do this in 2 parts. Your trip from the English station to London at www.nationalrail.co.uk and then London to Switzerland at www.sbb.ch or www.bahn.de.

Actually for the tickets you need 3 parts. London to Brussels South (or Midi in French) at www.eurostar.com
