Dear all!
I want to go to from germany france in June by train and currently in the process of deciding whether I should book a normal ticket (which is pretty expensive already) or get an interrail pass. But as i wanted to check the available reservations for TGV I couldnt get the chance to see or book any reservations. Do I need the pass for this first? Or is there any chance to see online if there are still free capacities for Interrail pass holders for my train and the traveldates?

Ich möchte im Juni von Deutschland nach Frankreich mit dem Zug reisen und bin gerade dabei zu entscheiden, ob ich ein normales Ticket buchen soll (das mittlerweile schon ziemlich teuer ist) oder einen Interrail-Pass kaufe. Das würde sich im Zweifel nämlich lohnen und ich wäre etwas felxibler. Aber als ich die verfügbaren Reservierungs Kontingente für den TGV überprüfen wollte, hatte ich online keine Möglichkeit Reservierungen zu sehen oder zu buchen.
Brauche ich dafür zuerst den Pass?
Oder gibt es eine Möglichkeit, vorher online zu sehen, ob für meinen Zug und die Reisedaten noch freie Kapazitäten für Inhaber eines Interrail-Passes vorhanden sind?

Interrail Reservierungen gibt es aktuell nur über die Interrail App, nicht online.
Grundsätzlich ist das nicht problematisch, aber nervig, wenn man eben zB die App nicht nutzen will und konkrete Züge vorab reservieren.
Wenn du eher spontan unterwegs bist kannst du ja problemlos (evtl mit ein bisschen Anstehen an den größeren Pariser Bahnhöfen) die Reservierungen vor Ort am Schalter holen - eigentlich sollte das auch an den Automaten vor Ort gehen aber da bin ich grad nicht ganz sicher.
Jedenfalls sind die Reservierungen "nur" im Preis kontingentiert, dh es gibt ein bestimmtes Kontingent pro Zug um 10€, anschließend kosten die Reservierungen 20€ bis der Zug ausgebucht ist (dann gibt es auch keine normalen Tickets mehr).

Depends whether or not you planned more train trips than only this one. If so I would recommend the pass. If not I doubt if the discount (probaly around 30%) exceeds the costs of the Interrail pass. Whith or whithout the pass there is no facility to cheque how far the contingent is. You see it only during the booking. So I doubt if Interrail is more flexible. In both cases you have to book prior for the trip.

1.OVER the border-so sit in DE already in that TGV will cost an awful lot more-but can of course be reserved by DB
2.as flo explains is right- Note that SNCF (which also like to strike very much, after all its a real state railway) has 2 types of machines-you will need the long-distance and NOT the smaller blue=for local trains. Doing it at counter possible in theory-but often very long lines, only FRench spoken in small gares and may stumble on ignorance- or not. Doing it at machine needs some 10+ steps and is not really self-evident. For couchette i night trains also all details (name, mail, tel. adress etc) needed-something that many Germans get the horrors of (other country-other customs +beliefs)
I somehow believe that the long-dist TGV BYpassing Paris (f.e. Strasbourg->Nantes) now cost 20/30 € extra.
