Hi, we're a group of Norwegians interrailing this summer. Our plan is to sort of start in Prague, and therefore we wish to get there as efficiently as possible. It seems to me that the fastest way might be Copenhagen -> Berlin -> Prague. Am I right in this assumption? And would it be possible to take any night trains on this route? Thanks for any help. :)

hej ... if you want to travel directly from Copenhagen to Berlin you have to change in Hamburg. it is a tour of about 6 hours...
the better way: just cross the sea in Copenhagen in direction of Sweden (Malmö) and there jump into the night train to Berlin: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/berlin-malmoe-en-300/58

in Berlin you can take a direct train to Prague (4-5 hours) ... :)

have fun, Peter :)

Yup, seems like the night train from Malmö might be our best bet ... Will the train cars run directly onto the ferry? Considering how the Berlin Night Express advertise with a good night sleep and so on, it seems strange if we would have to leave the train and get onto the ferry by foot.

Can you book the straight connection to Prague when you book the train in Malmö? And is it plausible to think that we don't have to book the train in advance when we arrive in Malmö around July 14-16?

Thanks for the help. =)

the cars run directly on the ferry... you can leave the train and go out on the ferry... but you also can stay in your beds ... :)

in Malmö Central station you can buy the reservations for your train to Prague ... but maybe try already to get the reservations especially for the Berlin-Malmö train directly online or in a bigger station in Norway. as in the summer months the Berlin-Malmö train is often full of travellers - so you can get a bed or seat but it also can happen that you won't get it...

Interesting ... is it so that the train goes from Copenhagen to Malmö? So, in other words, we could get on the train there, instead of first travelling to Malmö?

And also, we're arriving in Hirtshals around noon July 14th. Is it realistic to think that we might get to Malmö (supposedly by going through Aalborg and Copenhagen) before the Night Express leaves the same evening? Or do we have to be prepared on spending the night there? This is interesting considering booking as well.

You've been a tremendous help so far, Peter. :)

Do you think you know the answer to my second question my last reply? Whether we'll be able to make it to Copenhagen on the evening of the same day we leave Norway ... :)

I am a bit confused right now ... it seems that there will be only a direct connection from Copenhagen to Malmö... the Berlin-Malmö-Express starts in Malmö, no car directly from Copenhagen. but it is only a very short way from Copenhagen to Malmö ...! :)
about your second question... have a look here:

you will find the train schedules and can plan it !!! :)
have fun... Peter :)
