Hi there - I am due to travel to Vigo shortly and have to change trains at Santiago station. It is a very tight change (8 minutes) which I can probably do if there are lifts ... but if not? Does anyone know if there are lifts or an escalator at this station. I tried google but didn't come up with anything.

Hi!

I have been there, there are lifts. Check out the station map here ("Planos de la Estacion"): http://www.adif.es/es_ES/infraestructuras/estaciones/31400/informacion_000050.shtml
The station is also quite small so normally no problem to change trains.
Which connection are you looking at? There might be a security check if your train to Vigo is a long distance train but I doubt that.

Thanks for this - very grateful. I am travelling from Zamora to Vigo - and having to change at Santiago ... I am sure it will be fine.

Hmm...out of curiosity, what kind of ticket(s) do you have for this trip?

I would assume this is your connection?
Zamora 1043 - 1408 Santiago
Santiago 1415 - 1514 Vigo

This connection is sold by RENFE (Spanish Railways) online as a connecting service so your connection should be kind of "guaranteed". :)

That's it exactly. Thanks.
