Dear Friends and Train Fans,

Does anyone of you know something about the train connections between Turku and Helsinki. Next February I plan to travel through Finland and I could find every single connection, since they are released now. But between Turku & Helsinki nothing to be found.

Is this just due to the schedule-changes in mid december (Fahrplanwechsel) or is it due to construction work or simply no connections. But both are kind of lifeline-cities for the citizens so I can not imagine that there are no connections found.

Best wishes / Vielen Dank euch allen :)

Sevi

Read somewhere else-specialist train interests etc-that they plan to make this for Fi important route hi-speed and shorten it. So I assume they may start with the first construction works-which you will know may lead to longer times, bus substitution and frequently changed timetable.
I for myself do not completely understand why people need to know every minute 3-4 monthes advance. In my current InerRail-last week of 2 monthes, I had to plan (strike, covid, new rules etc.) by the week. Plus that whatever one may plan-in DE=Germany- at least half of it goes in the sky due to eternal delays and missed connections etc. Does it really matter to you if you arrive from the boat then train to HEL 30 mins or maybe 50 mins later as now?

Hi.
I think it has something to do with the change of schedules on 12 December 2021.
Even if it has to do with the new high-speed-line, they would not compleately close the train connection from Helsinki to Turku, as it is the main railway connection in Finland. They will at least offer a replacement service. Anyway, I think it is just due to the schedule change.
Other trains from Helsinki to the North are often used by tourists and for holidays (Christmas, ...). Therefore they might be already in the schedules.
Peter :)

Hi Seve,

here is the schedule valid from December 12 through to March 26: https://assets.ctfassets.net/gshi3wijcp49/d6d7M1ILpXJyeqkQLcLgX/99adfb4228c943e90da136648cf3b57a/VR_Aikataulutaulukot_12-12-2021_26-03-2022_v081021.pdf

Booking is not yet open, maybe thats why you didnt find these trains (booking is open for night trains only, so if you plan on taking night trains for the remainder of your trip through Finland maybe thats what has caused the confusion).
