Hi,

I'am looking for a connection from Sofia to Thessaloniki. The RE 361 from the Bulgarian BDZ is supposed travel that way.
Unfortunately the train is neither shown on the timetable of the interrail.eu nor of the BDZ.

Does anyone know if the train is currently going or if there are problems with the connection?

Thank you for the help.
Greetings
Jonas

Hi Jonas.
Currently the border between Bulgaria and Greece is closed for passenger trains due to the Covid19 situation. I have no date when the border opens again.
Also Greek railways OSE and BDZ Bulgaria does not give information:
https://www.trainose.gr/en/passenger-activity/international-services/international-railway-services/
https://www.bdz.bg/en/c/international-rail

You have to use the bus.

1) Union Ivkoni from 30 BGN (15 EUR).
Fill in "Sofia" and "Thessaloniki Macedonia". There are two buses daily with a journey time of 5 hours.

2) Omio
Offers several providers from 18 EUR
https://rail.shop/omio

It is possible to travel from Sofia to the border called "Kulata".

Information on rail.cc: https://rail.cc/train/sofia-to-thessaloniki

Enjoy your journey, Peter :)
