Hello,
I found that nice forum and I'd like to ask something (;
I'm planning to travel to Paris and London in 3 weeks :))
That's the first time I'll trying that Interrail.
Are there any supplements or reservations I have to consider?
I would be glad if somebody posts his/her experiences
regards
max ;)

Hi.
Depending which country is your country of residence (maybe Germany) you might have to buy a discounted normal ticket.
then in France you have to pay extra for the TGV (3-15 EUR) and to cross the channel, have a look at this topic:

but you can save a lot of money travelling by regional trains and using the ferry !!! :)
to find these regional trains, have a look at this topic:

all the best,
Peter :)

Hej (are you from Sweden?? :D ),
thanks a lot for your answer and the links!
My home country is Germany, right. Do I get this right that I have to buy a extra ticket for travelling from Frankfurt to the french border??
I think i'll using regional trains and in Calais the ferry instead of the Eurostar.
Concerning this point I need your help ;)
I had a look to the route planner website. Where is the difference between Core journey and Route.

You can't use interrail ticket at your home country (country of residence) so you have to buy a ticket from Frankfurt till French borders and its better if you use the Baden Wurttemberg ticket and Regional Trains..

like baobab said... it is right... I am German ... ;)
and yes the Baden-Wuertember Ticket will be the cheapest way ... go done via Heidelberg, Karlsruhe to Kehl and cross the border there to Strasbourg. There you have direct access to the TGV network and to Paris.
About the ferry connection to England ... you will lose time concerning to the Eurostar (3 hours to 12 hours) but you have a ferry travel and save money. use this link to find all the details you need: https://rail.cc/en/ferry-london-paris-england-france/f1222
there are also other train connections available to Calais - but try to avoid the TGV. ferryies are available every 30 minutes during the day and as well the train from Dover to London runs at least every 45 minutes...
and about the Route and Core journey ... I'm not sure ... just try and play... ;)
have fun, Peter :)
