Is there a train searching engine
(like the OBB Trip Planner https://fahrplan.oebb.at/bin/query.exe/en… )
where you can filter the results to show only the trains that don't need a prior seat reservation ?
Desktop site, NOT an Android app.
Thanks.

No, but same Q was put on TripAdvisor and answered there with further tips.
Many, many unexperienced people think that when it shows REServation as Optional/voluntary, one then has to. This is not the case. But if you suffer from giant fear about having to stand or perhaps not sitting beside your girlfriend for a while, then its an option. With often a load of hassle if one travels with InterRail.

Hi Pedu.
I personally like the one of DBahn https://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en

There you have the option to click "More means of transport" and deactivate the box for "ICE" (=high-speed-trains). Then you will find connections without reservations (usually) for countries where high-speed-trains require reservations.

But to simplify: what routes do you want to travel? Often there are really cool alternative routes available! :)

Best, Pete :)
