Hey you all,
Are there maybe people who travelled from Budapest to Praha by train (with stop in Bratislava has my favour, but it is not neccesary)? I would like to do that next year May, combining it with the start of the Giro D'Italia (cyclingrace) in Budapest and from there travel to Prague. But its my first time to travel by train in a foreign country so i`m not so sure how to fix it with tickets and if it is worth the traintravel or maybe go by plain and take the train to a different destination...

Kind regards!

Hi!

Budapest to Prague is easily done by train; either by day or by night or with an intermediate stop in Bratislava.
The direct route from Budapest to Prague runs via Bratislava; there are direct trains every two hours which all include a restaurant car as well.

Tickets can be easily bought online at [ux]https://rail.shop/cd/[/ux] (Czech Railways; for trip Budapest - Prague or Bratislava - Prague); [ux]https://rail.shop/zssk/[/ux] (Slovak Railways; for trip Bratislava - Prague and probably Budapest - Prague too) or [ux]https://rail.shop/mav/[/ux] (Hungarian Railways; for trip Budapest - Bratislava or Budapest - Prague).
There are special fares available which are only valid for a certain train on a certain date; these are usually the cheapest tickets. However, there are also offers for regular tickets available with which you can choose any train you want.

Booking usually starts 90 days in advance so there is still plenty of time to plan your trip.
