My family and I are traveling to Germany in August. I am still learning the rules of traveling with our 1st class Global Rail Pass which we have already purchased. I have made a few reservations but still have two routes left that are confusing me a bit. I would appreciate anyone who can offer some insight as to what I should do.
Question #1
August 17, Saturday:
(1) Kirchlengern to Rahden (Kr Lübbecke) - depart: 9:10, arrive: 9:50 (ERB)
(2) Rahden to to Kirchlengern - depart: 16:05, arrive: 16:49 (ERB)
We need to make these 2 trips on the same day.
When I look for a 1st class seat reservation only on Bahn.com it shows a red "Reservation" button which takes me to "Please select your preferred offer".
There are 2 grayed out options:
Offers of WestfalenTarif — independent from data provided about "travellers"
DB offers - 2nd class
And, 1 option :SchönerTagTicket NRW with a red "Continue" button which takes me to SCHÖNERTAGTICKET NRW for up to 5 people for 46 Euro.
Does this reserve a seat in 1st class? Is it mandatory to purchase this ticket or do we really just need only our railpasses? If I do get this ticket is it good for both trips this day? Is this a stand alone ticket or if I use it would I still need to enter the trip for a day on our railpass?
Question #2
August 20, Tuesday
(1) Wetzlar to Dillenburg - 9:18 , arrive: 9:38 (RE)
When I look for a 1st class seat reservation only on Bahn.com at first it shows "Reservation impossible" but below it also shows the red "Reservation" button which takes me to "Please select your preferred offer". There are several options here ranging in price up to 36 Euro.
Again, is this actually a reservation for a 1st class seat or do we really need to have anything other than our railpass for this 20 minute train trip?
Thanks in advance for your help.
