Hi,

We are 2 adults and 4 children travelling with Interrail in August this year. My question is if we need to buy seat reservations for the following roots to be sure to have a seat and to be able to sit relatively close to each other on the trail?

* Berlin - München
* München- Bad Gastein
* Bad Gastein - Wien
* Night train Wien - Hamburg (Yes, it is needes as far as I understand)
* Hamburg - Köpenhamn

Thanks for your help!!!

Hi and welcome to Railcc!

For your route Hamburg - København in August will probably need a reservation as well. For single travellers will the end of August go just fine; but with your group you\'ll probably be safe to buy a reservation.
Easiest to buy via the DSB website.

Hi!

Berlin - Munich: definitely recommended to reserve, trains are often full
München - Bad Gastein: not really necessary but can be beneficial
Bad Gastein: not necessary, I would recommend to take one of the two direct trains...these take a little bit longer compared to the connections where you change in Salzburg but far less people will be on the train between Salzburg and Vienna so you should have to troubles getting good seats (not that on the Railjet services there is also a dedicated family coach, number 21 (or 31).
Nightjet and EC Hamburg - Copenhagen: reservation required
