New type of ticket in Denmark

For many years there has been a Spar-preis product called Orange for domestic train travel - you get a good discount if you can travel outside peak hours, buy well in advance, specify a train, and accept that your tickets can not be change/refund, much like a standard flight ticket.

This product is still here, but now there is a new product between this and normal (expensive) tickets, called Orange Fri (translated to Orange Free - do not ask whom have come up with that name), and it may be of interest for travellers to Denmark.

You still have to be on a specific train (what the Germans call zugbindung), but the tickets are on sale right up to departure, and you can get them on almost all trains (also during peak hours, but not always), and it can be cancelled with full payback upto 30 minutes before departure (this is in fact better than ordinary tickets, which you have to give in the day before to cancel).
If you buy well in advance they can be close as cheap as the "normal" Orange, and if you buy them right before departure you may only save 2 €.
Travel between Copenhagen and e.g. Aarhus can easily be half price if you book a week or so before... And you can get a full refund upto 30 minutes before departure.

Neither Orange tickets are sold at windows or automats, you have to buy them online or at the DSB-app. It can be done in English.

So what to do if you are in Denmark and not have the app (and don\'t want it) - here is the trick: only very very few stations have an old fashion ticket-window, but on almost every station there will be a 7-Eleven, and most of them have a public PC and printer for train-travellers. Simply change the language to English and click on Buy Ticket, everything will be in English and you get direct access to the cheapest tickets - pay by credit/debit card - click on print and grab your ticket.
