where is the passport control on the route Moscow - Paris?

Hi and welcome.
When I travelled the train Moscow to Paris, the passport control was in both directions at the station of Brest. On the route Paris to Moscow before entering the station of Brest. On the route Moscow to Paris after leaving the station of Brest. There was no border control between Russia and Belarus.
And then there was a control entering the Schengen area after leaving Brest station arriving in Terespol.
