In my trip from Glasgow to Berlin I have a 4 hour wait between trains in Venlo.

The issue is that I arrive in Venlo at 00:58 and by next train is around 05:30.

Now, I had planned to just sit in the station and play some mobile games to kill the time, but I\'ve found out that the station is vacated and locked at night.

My question is, what\'s the best plan for these 4 hours in the middle of the night? I can\'t book into a B&B or anything, because I\'d be checking in too late and checking out too early. I don\'t exactly feel comfortable with walking around for 4 hours in the middle of the night, as much as I would like to see some of Venlo.

Any suggestions?

Hi and welcome to railcc!

Have a look at the night train services within the Netherlands (if you have Interrail). These run every hour throughout the night in the Randstad (Rotterdam/Den Haag/Amsterdam/Utrecht area) as well as to selected other cities on weekends.
That way you could spend the night travelling through the Netherlands; however you would certainly arrive later in Venlo so you would have to take a later connection to Hamburg. Also, these night train services are regular Intercity trains with seats and usually many passengers so sleeping is possible but also not that easy as in a hotel or somewhere on a bench in a park.

You could of course look for said bench somewhere in Venlo or spend the night in another, bigger city.

What is your overall planned route?
