Hi,

So next July I and more 7 friends are starting the first of many (i hope :) ) interrails.

At the moment this is our travel plan:

We're from Porto, but we decided to buy plane tickets to start the interrail in Frankfurt and end in Madrid, to have more travel days.

19th July 8:30 Porto - 19th July 12:05 Frankfurt Hahn
19th July 13:00 Frankfurt Hanh - 19th July 14:05 Mainz (Hahn Airport Shuttle - 11€)

We will stay the afternoon in Mainz and start the interrail ta midnight heading to Munich.

20th July 1:57 Mainz Hbf - 20th July 7:16 Munich IC111 (should I reserve? how much it would cost?)

some hours at Munich :)

20th July 20:00 Salzburg - 20th July 23:18 Wien OIC747

or

20th July 17:38:00 Salzburgo 20th July 20:00:00 Linz Rex 3033
20th July 20:53:00 Linz 20th July 21:57:00 Amstetten R 1631
20th July 22:09:00 Amstetten 20th July 23:57:00 Wien Rex 1649

ok what option should i choose? the second one i'm sure that i don't have to pay, but i would stay little time at salzburg.. The first one the reservation costs 5€ i think.
The other doubt is that if i should split the day time between salzburg and munich or just stay with one of the two and visit more that city..

Ok then we are going to stay two days in Wien.

Next stop Ljubljana :D

22th July 18:57:00 Wien Südbahnhof Bstg. 11-19 22th July 20:01:00 Payerbach-Reichenau REX 1965 (Ok this is the only train we are paying outside the interrail, to make the arrival at ljubjana eralier, anyone knows how should it cost?)

Dinner at Payerbach-Reichenau :P

23th July 0:02:00 Payerbach-Reichenau 23 0:41:00 Mürzzuschlag
23th July 4:24:00 Mürzzuschlag 23 5:56:00 Graz R 4053
23th July 6:05:00 Graz 23th July 6:58:00 Spielfeld-Straß S 5
23th July 7:05:00 Spielfeld-Straß 23th July 7:28:00 Maribor 3901
23th July 7:55:00 Maribor 23th July 9:34:00 Zidani 2933
23th July 10:00:00 Zidani 23th July 11:03:00 Ljubljana 2204

Ok this are regional trains, so are free right? We planned staying two days at Ljubjana.. Do you think it's ok or it's better like in this first day go visit lake Bled or Maribor for example?

Italy we're we go :D

25th July 2:22:00 Ljubljana 25th July 7:04:00 Venezia EN 240 (5€ normal chair, 19€ 6 bed compartment)

27th July 9:10:00 Milano Centrale 27th July 13:20:00 Ventimiglia IC 1535 / IC 1536 (6€ should i reserve it?)
27th July 13:54:00 Ventimiglia 27th July 14:18:00 Monaco RE 81190

Just to see Monaco :D

27th July 17:27:00 Monaco 27th July 20:30:00 Marseille RE 17434

Arriving Marseille for a chillout last day.. Anyone knows good beaches in this area? What we should no miss?

Ok then in the last day (29th July) we need to reach Madrid. (we have flight back to porto at 11am in 30th).. I was thinking get to Barcelona and spent there the afternoon and then catch the last train to Madrid.. What do you think? How much in supplements did this cost?

I'm waiting for answers :D And if you have suggestions on places to sleep, cheap places to eat, they are very welcome because we have a very short budget :)

Thank you

hej ...
seems to be planed perfectly !! :)

just some short ideas about prices ...

1) IC Mainz - Munich ... reservation will be 2 or 4 EUR ... ask at the station in Mainz. But I think: better not to make a reservation. You will always find a seat !! :)

2) Munich-Salzburg-Vienna: IC is free. If you want to stay in Salzburg (nice town, it is worth visiting), calculate a 20 minutes walk to the city centre one-way. But better to select... either Munich or Salzburg ... otherwise it will be too much ...

3) one-way per person from Wien Südbhf. to Payerbach-Reichenau it is 27,20 EUR. if you are travelling as a group think about the special offer of the Austrian rail company called Einfach-Raus-Ticket. you can buy it at ticket machines or in the station.
you have to pay 28 EUR for it but up to 5 persons per ticket can travel one day in Austria by regional trains. so it will fit your plans !!! you save a lot of money then !!! :)
www.oebb.at/pv/en/Travelling_cheaper/Groups/Einfach-Raus-Ticket/index.jsp

4) Payerbach - Ljubljana: all regional trains - so it is free

5) Milano - Ventimiglia: I think you even have to pay a reservation for 5 EUR

6) try to continue and don't stay overnight in Marseilles ... better to take a regional train and continue the coast... leave the train somewhere after Narbonne... maybe around Argles-sur-mer ... you will see the sea and will get everywhere a camping area or just spend the night sitting at the beach. but don't build up your tents - it will be checked by police - and they aren't nice *personal experience* ... ;)
also pay attention to maybe bad persons at the beach at night.

Hope this will help a little bit ... nice tour it is ...!! :) have a lot of fun... Peter

Thank you for the advices :)

I was looking for regional trains to continue my journey from Marseille in that day, but I can't find any...

I found this solution to go to Barcelona.

Marseille-St-Charles Mo, 28.07.08 dep 22:14 NZ 4724
NZ 4725 Nachtzug Montpellier Saint-Roch Tu, 29.07.08 arr 00:06

Montpellier Saint-Roch Tu, 29.07.08 dep 07:26 463 TLG 463 Barcelona Sants Tu, 29.07.08 arr 11:46

The we would catch the last AVE from Barcelona to Madrid, which is at 20:30, and be in Madrid at 23:30, just before the time of interrail ends :)

My doubts are if the marseille montpellier applies for the night rule, because i only have one day left for travelling and how much this would cost in supplements?

Thank you again Peter :)
