Searching for connection Napoli - Pompei on trenitalia.com returns two trains. A regional train going from Napoli Centrale and Metropolitano running from Napoli Piazza Garibaldi (much more frequent). Can we use both of them with the Interrail Italy pass?
I understand that there is a private company Circumvesuviana, that operates trains to Pompei Scavi and those are not part of Interrail. On the other side the Metropolitano seems to be operated by Trenitalia so my guess is that Interrail pass should be valid on it.

Kind regards

Hi and welcome to railcc!

The Metropolitana di Napoli (metro/underground services, lines 1 and 6) and the Circumvesuviana are both not operated by Trenitalia; Interrail is not valid on either of these companies.
However, there are also suburban services operated by Trenitalia which are also called "Metropolitana" (calling at Porta Garibaldi and several other stations in the city centre). These can be used with Interrail of course. :)
