Hello everyone. Iam planning on travelling from Athens, Greece to Italy by train. Has anyone done it before? And if so could you give me some tips considering travelling by train (tickets, bus, hotel, boat e.t.c.)?

Hi and welcome to railcc!

The easiest and fastest option is to go from Athens via Kiato to Patras, then take a ferry to Italy (Bari, Ancona, Venice). Ferry tickets are available at [ux]https://rail.shop/bluestarferries/[/ux] or [ux]https://rail.shop/superfast/[/ux]

If you want to go by train, you have to go from Athens to Thessaloniki, then take the night train to Belgrade: [ux]https://rail.cc/blog/belgrade-skopje-thessaloniki-train/[/ux] then continue to Ljubljana, make an overnight stop, then go to Italy...it takes much longer then the trip by ferry. ;)
