Hi,
I want to travel from Ljubiana to Insbruck or Zurich on global pass. I found there is one direct EN train. Do i need reservation for it? Bahn.de said that i dont need, oebb.at sad that reservation is unavaiable, and interrail website said that train Zagreb-Zurich cost is 14e(this is probably the same train). And where can i do this reservation?
Or do you know any other cheap conections between Slovenia and Switzerland?

Hi ok1359,
going to Zürich, you have the following options:
1) By day train, for example leaving on EC 314 at 7:27 from Ljubljana, change in Villach and Salzburg. Reservations are not required. Innsbruck is an intermediate stop between Salzburg and Zürich. There are plenty of other day train connections available, too.
2) By direct sleeper train EN 414: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/belgrade-zurich-en-414/159 This train stops at both Innsbruck and Zürich. A reservation is required to travel on this train with Interrail or Eurail. I highly recommend that you get at least a couchette reservation, travelling in regular seats on overnight journeys is not a good idea. Reservations can be booked over the phone through ÖBB at +43 5 1717-3. You must specify that you want an Interrail or Eurail reservation, as special rates apply. I would recommend that you get the reservation well in advance, as night trains are frequently sold out. In most European countries, you can also buy reservations locally at staffed ticket offices in stations.
Have a nice trip!
Best,

Officially this train is "global priced", this means tickets are only sold with included reservation. With a railpass you have to buy the so called " pass holder fee " , so if you board without a reservation it can be that you have to pay it onboard. (depends on the conductor, sometimes they don\'t charge it)
The reservation fees for interrailers for this train are:
seat : 9 €
couchette 6: 19 €
couchette 4: 29 €
3-bed sleeper: 39 €
double sleeper: 59 €
single sleeper (1t class pass required): 119 €
As the travel time is quite long (about 12h) I\'ll recommend you to buy at least a couchette reservation which is quite affordable an the modernized croatian compartments are really comfortable ...
