Hi
My girlfriend and I are currently in Berlin and we\'re heading to Krakow on Saturday. When we made our ticket reservations, we were able to reserve a train from Berlin to Poznan Glowny, but the train from Poznan Glowny to Krakow Glowny did not reserve as we were too early to book it. I was wondering if it is possible to reserve that ticket anywhere here in Berlin or if we\'d have to wait until we got to Poznan to do it, which wouldn\'t be ideal as I imagine it wouldnt leave us a lot of time between the two journeys.
Thanks
George

Hi George, welcome to railcc!

You can buy the seat reservation either at a train station in Berlin (DB ticket offices at Hauptbahnhof, Ostbahnhof, Zoo, Spandau, Südkreuz, Gesundbrunnen, probably at Alexanderplatz, Friedrichstraße,... too), however it will then cost the standard price of a DB reservation which is 4,50€ (per seat).

When you wait until Poznan to buy it there at the station it will be free of charge however you risk losing your connection - what does your planned connection look like?
There is also a risk of the train being full but I wouldnt think so; also you can hop on the train without a reservation too (but may have to pay a 10 PLN extra charge for an on board "reservation").

Thanks, this was a big help!
We have a similar issue with travelling from Budapest to Sofia, as we were able to reserve seats for a train from Budapest to Belgrade, but not Belgrade to Sofia. We are currently in Kraków and shall be moving onto Budapest after this, so is it possible to reserve seats for the latter train in either of these cities or do we have to wait until Serbia?

Thanks

George

Hi George,

again, no seat reservation required for Budapest - Belgrade.
For Belgrade - Sofia seat reservations are available (if available at all) only locally. Anyway you dont have to worry, just buy them when you arrive in Belgrade (it can happen that reservations are only available on the day of travel - depending on what kind of coaches are used for the service on your particular travel day). No worries. ;)

PS: How did you manage your trip from Poznan to Krakow in the end?

Hi Flo
Thanks again, we\'ll just try and buy at the station!
We had a bit of trouble actually sorting out the reservations. We tried to reserve our seats the day before we went through the DB offices at zoo, but the woman who served us told us that our only option was a train that got in at 3am, which wasn\'t ideal for us as our hostel wouldn\'t let us check in until 8am. So anyway, we got to HBF at around 7:30 the next morning to try and get an earlier train and while we couldn\'t get an earlier one, we were able to change our reservation so we could carry on to Warsaw instead of getting off at Poznan and then change at Warsaw to another train that got us to Kraków.
So yeah, worked out fine in the end, but would go through HBF as opposed to Zoo as it was a lot quicker and there was more of a waiting area in HBF, which Zoo was lacking a bit :)

OK thanks. So I do not quite understand what the problem was? You could only get a reservation from Poznan to Krakow for a train arriving at 03:00? That would be weird...but luckily you got there in the end, and I think travelling via Warsaw probably didnt take too much extra time... :)
