I will be travelling to spain in Aug 2018 & would prefer travelling by train mainly around the country. Some websites are telling me that if i book 30 day in advance the train tickets are more pricier than if I book 14 days in advance. Is that true? I thought booking as early as possible would give me a cheaper rate?

Hi and welcome.
Yes, that\'s correct. You will find saver prices if you book early in advance. :)
What are your planed routes? As maybe a rail pass could be a good option for you as well. In Spain there is for example the RENFE Spain Pass available: https://rail.cc/en/renfe-spain-pass
Just let me know your route and we can go deeper into details... :)

Hi and welcome to railcc!
RENFE in Spain uses a yield management similar to those of airlines for long distance trains, with the price depending on when you book, when you travel and how popular a certain connection is.
There are usually three price levels with different options regarding selection of seats, possibility to return/exchange/refund tickets etc...
Sevilla to Cordoba and return is a local journey which you can do with MD, AV City or Avant services; these services offer single class standard fares only; so it doesnt matter when you book.
For Sevilla to Cordoba and Valencia to Madrid long distance trains (AVE, Talgo) are the best option; check prices on [ux]https://rail.shop/omio/[/ux]
