you can try it via the website of the ferry companies (Send email or call them) but normally you just buy the InterRail discounted tickets at their offices at the harbour. :)

Hi, I just phone called Silja Line to get some real info on their current Interrail discounts between Stockholm, Sweden and Turku, Finland.

The girl on the telephone said that they sell deck places (no cabin required) between the day ships between Stockholm and Turku. For the night ships between Sweden and Finland, a cabin is required.

I also found out that you can get the Interrail cardholder price by entering 'EURAIL' to the promotion code box on the web reservation form. I've included price examples below.

With Silja Line the prices are for the whole cabin, not per person (except for the deck places).

So when for instance you buy a C class cabin, the price is the same whether 2, 3 or 4 people travel. If you travel by yourself, the good choice is cabin class B2 for 1-2 persons. C cabins are furnished like B cabins, but they are on the low deck (2) so there might be some engine noise, though it hasn't bothered me. A class cabins have an outside window.

Here are the prices I happened to get just now from the online reservation system:

Prices for a Morning ferry from Stockholm to Turku
or from Turku to Stockholm:
Deck place: 16 EUR per person
A class: 78 EUR per cabin (contains the ticket price for 1-4 people)
B class: 59 EUR per cabin (2-4 people)
B2 class: 53 EUR per cabin (1-2 people)
C class: 51 EUR per cabin (1-4 people)
Timetables (all times local, Sweden:CET / Finland:EET) :
depart TURKU 08:00 - arrive STOCKHOLM 18:15
depart STOCKHOLM 07:10 - arrive TURKU 19:15

Prices for an evening ferry from Turku to Stockholm
or from Stockholm to Turku:
A:117 eur, B:88 eur, B2:79 eur, C: 75 eur for the whole cabin.
Timetable:
depart STOCKHOLM 19:15 - arrive TURKU 07:00
depart TURKU 20:15 - arrive STOCKHOLM 06:10

At the Turku Harbour, the railroad is built all the way to the ferry terminal.
As far as I know, using the ferry does not consume your travel days on the pass.

You can do the reservations at the website www dot tallinksilja dot com slash en.
Try to use the aforementioned promotional code in case it still works.

By the way, the Silja Line ships between Sweden and Finland are awesome. They should not be called ships, 'floating palaces' would be better suited. Especially the ships between Stockholm and Helsinki (Silja Symphony and Silja Serenade) are magnificent and also Silja Europa, which sails out from Stockholm in the morning and from Turku in the evening and carries 3,000 passengers. They each have 12 decks, a multitude of restaurants, dance floors, discotheques, shops, cafeterias etc. Check out the web sites for pictures of the boats! They are something each European should see once in his/her life. Silja Festival is a bit smaller but has the same feeling of luxury too. And the competing Viking Line's ships are great too (equal size), just a few years older than Silja's and usually a few euros cheaper.

I'd like to know if the trips in these boats count as days in the ticket, as well.

I bought a pass for 10 trips in 22 days, and I want to take the ferry from Stockholm to Helsinki, and the ferry leaves at 17.00 and arrives at 09.00, so it'd count as 2 days, right??

The 19.00pm rule is for ferries, too??

Thanks in advance!!

Hi.
Either arrival or departure day has to be one of your travel days - but often it is handled like this: as long as your ticket is valid (it doesn't depend if you activated one of your travel days), you get the discount.
So the maximum for you is ONE travel day.
Peter :)

Thanks Peter for the reply!!

So, the 19.00 rule don't apply on ferries, then? it's only with trains, right? because, this trip begins before 7pm.

You are right. The rule only applies for night trains.
Overnight trains on ferries: either departure or arrival day - it doesn't matter at what time you start or end.
Often you even need none of your travel days.
Have a nice trip, Peter :)

Is it possible to book discounted tickets for Viking Line (Stockholm-Turku and back) online? I found out how to do it with Silja, but the Viking times are more convenient. Apparently Viking doesn't have its own booking system and I only found booking sites without any discount options and agencies asking more commission than the discount would be. Any advice? (I would prefer to have a reservation even if it might not be necessary, as I have night trains to catch that I can't miss or it'll get expensive...)

I'm a Swedish resident and want to take the ferry from Stockholm to Helsinki, can I still get the 50% discount price with my InterRail ticket?
