Hi,
I would like to ask whether a train ticket purchased for the way Malmö-Copenhagen also works for public transport within Copenhagen (buses, trams, etc.).
Thank You!

As a general rule yes.
But...
I guess you will buy a "öresund ticket" (name of the water between Sweden and Denmark, and a special cross-border ticket with its own rules and not standard international rules) the travel.
And this ticket will in most cases also work on buses and metro in Copenhagen - but it may depend on you travelroute, most will go via the bridge, but you can also go by boat to Helsingør and then it may get more complicated.
But the good news: it is printed on your ticket where you can use it. You will see some letters in brackets after the station name, here you can travel. It may be F+L which is equal to zone 1,3 and 4 - but not 2...
For zone 2 you also need an E.
Complicated? Yes!
Can a ordinary Dane at a stop help you: No - not many can translate those letters to the local number-based zone system - BTW we use electronic travelcards who do the math for us
Will bus/train staff know it: Mayby, but....
Here is a map you can use:

So to sum up:
Check those letters - if you stay in inner-Copenhagen use bus and metro as you like, but on the Metro be sure not to travel in zone 2 if letter E is not there.
If you need Danish zone 2, then check price for a ticket to Valby and not Copenhagen, this station will for sure include letter E and then zone 2.
If you travel by DSB train in Copenhagen, please remember that you travel then need to be in a forward direction from Malmø, you can not travel reverse/back/round - on bus and Metro feel free to do so.
If stopped by a ticket examinator (especially on the Metro) do take a stand on your rights if they say the ticket is not vallied - some will know the rules, others not... ;-)
Enjoy Copenhagen
