I keep checking sncf\'s site to make sure I don\'t miss out on the quota for Eurail Pass holders on the Milan-Paris TGV we\'re planning to take on May 5. Today, I discovered something new when checking prices: A "mini" fare that is exactly the same whether one is using a Pass or not, as seen in these screenshots

The "mini" is non-alterable & non-refundable, the semi-flexible ticket that allows alteration on the day IS a little cheaper for Eurail holders, by a total of 28 Euros. The ptrice difference is so low I\'m no wondering whether we should use our pass as planned, or just pay the non-pass price and free up one day of our 10 day pass for another use.

Hi!

If you select a rail pass you will be shown both regular tickets ("mini" fare) as well as passholder reservations ("flexible" fare); however regular tickets might be only shown if they are cheaper than the passholder fare - at least that\'s what your pictures suggest.

Whether you want to get an extra Eurail travel day and take the cheap regular tickets or you stay with your planning and take the more flexible passholder reservations - the decision is up to you. ;)
Having an extra Eurail travel day makes sense only (more or less) if you would add another longer trip to your itinerary - where the travel day pays off compared to a regular ticket (which is more likely if you decide to make an extra trip spontaneously).

Thanks Flo. In the end, I decided to go with the safety margin offered by the semi-flexible fare, which is at the price I\'d originally budgeted anyway. Also because, after looking at our intinerary, I realised there were no situations where have the "etras" day on our pass would offer better savings.
