Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had done the northern coast of Spain using the narrow gauge railway from Ferrol to Hendaye (or v.v.)?
This has been a dream of mine for some time. Is it possible to travel all the way by local trains? It seems so by looking at these maps: [ux]http://www.renfe.com/viajeros/feve/mapas/[/ux]

A couple of years ago I did a mix of train travel and camino walking (really recommended) - but Interrail passes are not valid on Euskotren..
In San Sebastian there was a pintxos festival. I believe this is the only place I have ever been where the food has been the highlight I think.

I have done the stretch between
Hendaye - Irun FICOBA (crossing the FR/ES border; on foot)
Irun FICOBA - San Sebastian by train (Euskotren)
San Sebastian - Aia-Orio by train (Euskotren)
Aia-Orio - Zarautz (on foot)
Zarautz - Getaria - Zumaia (on foot)
Zumaia - San Sebastian by train (Euskotren)
San Sebastian - Vitoria Gasteiz by train (Renfe)
Vitoria Gasteiz - Bilbao by bus (Renfe services to and from Bilbao are horrible, not to mention the [beautiful] station itself which has no left luggage service!)

I would like to continue further west doing a mix of hiking along the coast and taking the train. Seems like the coast from Zumaia eastwards is really beautiful.

Anyone have any tips or ideas?
