Our Eurail pass arrived early, and I want to make sure that I\'ve grokked the "night train" rule, as our calendar dpends on it. :) Here\'s a screenshot of the Travel Calendar spreadsheet

As you can see, we have 10 days already marked in our planning spreadsheet (NOT in our pass!) . The critical one is Day 6th, the 12th of May. Here\'s the train we plan to take on that day

Friday 11 May 2018 Wien-Venezia 21:27- 08:40 Saturday 12 May

I THINK this qualifies for the night train rule. That\'s why on our planner, I have listed only the date of arrival, the 12th May. Did I get this right? If I did, then we have a fully-planned 10 days. If not, the trip from Naples to FCO will be outside our pass and we\'ll have to buy tickets independently.

Another closely related question: Assuming I\'ve understood the guide correctly, the travel CALENDAR needs only the ARRIVAL date for the 2 overnight trains. But the Travel DIARY requires the DEPARTURE date? On our spreadsheet, I\'ve replicated the Travel Diary as well, and the times listed all seem to be departure times? So I\'ve entered our two night trains in our spreadsheet copy of the Travel Diary as shown in this screenshot

Again, did I understand this correctly? For qualifying night trains, as our seem to be, ARRIVAL date on the Travel calendar, DEPARTURE date on the Travel Diary? Thanks again for all your patient help

Yes, you did get all correctly. :)

Night train leaving Vienna on the 11th: enter the 12th as travel day; but write the departure date (11th) in the travel calendar. :)
