I\'ve found multiple references online to the overnight sleeper train that departs Budapest at 19:10 and stops at Sighisoara on the way through to Bucharest. However, when I try to confirm this route on the mavcsoport website for travel in late Dec 2017, it does not seem to stop at Sighisoara after all. I\'m travelling using an Interrail pass, and the route also doesn\'t show up when I search for it on the Interrail system. Does anyone have any information about this? I had been planning to travel Budapest to Sighisoara on this overnight sleeper, spend the day there and stay overnight, then on to Brasov the following day, stay there overnight, and eventually to Bucharest the day after. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi and welcome to railcc!

On December 10 a new timetable will be introduced throughout Europe (this timetable change happens annually on the second Sunday of December); in the new 2018 schedule both night trains from Budapest to Bucharest will run via Sibiu instead of Sighisoara.
You can either travel Budapest - Brasov overnight with one of these night trains, then go back to Sighisoara and finally to Bucharest (via Brasov again) or you travel by night train from Bucharest to Simeria or Vintu de Jos and change there to Sighisoara. However, connections on this route can be quite bad so it might be better to go to Brasov first.

Support our work and buy your Interrail pass via our partner link: [ux]http://rail.shop/interrail/[/ux] - thank you! :)

Thanks so much for your reply and suggestions.

We are looking to travel from Budapest on Dec 27. Will the new 2018 timetable be in effect by then, or does it start on January 1st?

Thank you in advance!
