Hello,
is there any reasonable train connection between Krakow and Lviv after Christmas (from 26 till 28 of December) and how much would it cost? Either night or day trains, it doesn\'t matter to me.
Thanks!

Hi David,
yes, there is both a direct night train, as well as an easy day train connection with one change at Przemysl. I can\'t seem to find information about pricing either. Your best bet may be to call the PKP Intercity service hotline or pop them an email: https://www.intercity.pl/en/site/for-passengers/information/contact/ (never tried it myself, so I\'d be interested in your experience :) ) If you live in Europe, you can also inquire at your local train station or travel agent, they will usually be able to tell you the price.
Let us know how it goes.
Best,
Quenzon

Hi and welcome to railcc!
The current night train Warsaw/Wroclaw - Krakow - Przemysl - Lviv will be suspended in the new schedule (valid from December 10); PKP and UZ want to use the SUW2000 sleeping coaches with variable gauge bogies on this service but they are not ready yet for regular service.
Meanwhile a "shuttle" service Przemysl - Lviv will operate, with night train connections from other Polish cities in Przemysl.
Meanwhile, there are two daytime IC services from Przemysl to Lviv and Kyiv; as well as a new Przemysl - Lviv - Odessa night train.
Tickets for the IC services are available online at [ux]http://uz.gov.ua/en/[/ux] - do not buy tickets outside of Poland or Ukraine since there is a special deal available when buying in these countries (or online from UZ website - link above).
Tickets for the night train could also be available online - but since it will be introduced only on December 10 I dont know yet.
All trains run daily. Schedules: [ux]https://www.intercity.pl/pl/dokumenty/RJ%20tabelki/ZARYS_MN_wersja_A1_10_12_2017-10_03_2018_stan_30-10-2017_godz_15_11.pdf[/ux] (page 12 and 13).

PS: Oh, and since you are travelling from Krakow you can either buy both tickets in Krakow at the station (Krakow - Przemysl plus Przemysl - Lviv) or buy the additional Krakow - Przemysl ticket online at [ux]https://rail.shop/pkpic/[/ux]

Thank you both for information.
I have another question, though. What is the fastest/cheapest way how to get from Kiev/Lviv to Prague by train? I would like to go after New Year, beginning on 1./2. of January.
Thank you.

Since the current, direct sleeping car [ux]https://rail.cc/en/night-train/kiev-prague-d-771-442/512[/ux] will be withdrawn from December 10; the best option will be to take a night train Kyiv (departure afternoon)/Lviv (departure middle of the night) to Chop (UA/SK border), then cross the border by local train to Cierna nad Tisou and continue to Kosice, then take the SC Pendolino [ux]https://rail.cc/en/train-type/supercity-cd/57[/ux] to Prague.
There will be a direct sleeping car Kyiv - Lviv - Chop - Kosice, running as a "through coach) with several other trains; it will be cheaper to buy tickets Kyiv/Lviv - Chop (link in my previous post); then buy locally Chop - Cierna nad Tisou (at the station in Chop), then locally Cierna - Kosice (at the station or on the train), then finally Kosice - Prague at [ux]http://rail.shop/cd[/ux] or [ux]https://rail.shop/zssk[/ux]
The timings will be the same - the direct sleeping car Kyiv - Kosice will run with regional trains from Chop via Cierna to Kosice; same as described here: [ux]https://rail.cc/blog/bratislava-lviv-train/[/ux]
Timings:
Kyiv 16:41
Lviv 02:26/02:52
Chop 09:23/11:35
Cierna 11:39/12:05
Kosice 13:54/14:59
Praha 22:20
If you want to travel from Lviv you can take another, earlier night train from Lviv to Chop; or travel Lviv - Chop during the day, then cross the border by local train to Cierna, the go by local train to Kosice and by night train to Prague:
Chop 19:35
Cierna 19:41/20:05
Kosice 21:54/22:07
Praha 08:21
