Good evening to all of you travelers. My name is Salvatore. I am committed to taking all the useful information for a motorbike trip that the Finnish nation will take me to Nordkapp. In your opinion, can I use the Finnish railways to transport by night train, two people in the berth (my wife Annamaria and I) and our motorcycle named morosita ..?
If so, can I ask how much it would cost the one-way (two passengers + one motorcycle) ...?
Thanks for the reply.
Best regards
Salvatore

Hi,
Most of the night trains in finland do have auto-transportation coaches. so I think it would not be a problem to take your motorcycle with you. But I don´t know prices.

Hi Salvatore, welcome to railcc!

As already mentioned, Finnish Railways operate several night trains from Helsinki (and Turku) to the north of Finland (Rovaniemi, Kemijärvi and Kolari): [ux]https://rail.cc/en/night-train/finland/fi[/ux]

All of these also convey car-carrying cars and it should no problem to book a place for a motorcycle (I once travelled there and they were carrying a bus so a bike shouldnt be an issue...). ;)
The sleeping compartments are really nice - I recommend to book a "suite" on the upper deck where you have an ensuite bathroom with shower and WC. Also, you can go to the restaurant car for dinner/breakfast.

For booking, go to the website of Finnish Railways directly: [ux]rail.shop/vr[/ux]

Have a nice trip - and it would be great to hear from your experiences! :)

Flo

PS: Station for Helsinki is "Pasila".

Hello Flo. Thank you for your full answer. Finally, I ask you if booking is required and if so, how long before you have to book it. Thank you
Best regards

Hey Salvatore,

I think that you can book CarTrain packages up to one year in advance; however the actual tickets/reservations are only available up to 60 days in advance.

How are you going to travel to Finland? Ferry...?

Hello Flo, I get to Stockholm on a motorbike. From Stockholm I board my motorcycle on a ship that will take me to Helsinki

OK. If you have time I recommend to travel with the Stockholm - Turku ferry during the day - the trip is very scenic and takes you through the Schären islands almost the whole time.
From Turku it is not far (about 2h) to Helsinki...or you could also travel with direct night train to Rovaniemi: [ux]https://rail.cc/en/night-train/turku-rovaniemi-ic-933-273/366[/ux]
