Hello guys, this is going to be my first interrail experience and I have a limited budget. I\'ll start my journey in Italy, I have a plane ticket. I want to see Barcelona but when I searched the trains I couldn\'t find any train without 2 or more than compulsory reservation and it takes a day to travel Barcelona. So I take the Barcelona out of my route but any kind of information, suggestion and experience would be very helpful to me. Thanks x

Hi alliethephony and welcome to rail.cc :)

So you want to travel from Florence (what you wrote in your other post which I removed - one is enough :) ) to Barcelona with your Interrail pass ?!

It is possible without extra reservations but you will need one overnight stop, for example in Nice (France).

As example:

1) by Regional or/and IC trains via Pisa and Genoa to France. Read therefore our blog here: [ux]https://rail.cc/blog/marseille-milan-train/[/ux]

2) Overnight stop in Nice or Marseille: [ux]https://rail.shop/bookingcom[/ux]

3) From Nice or Marseille on to Barcelona, as well by free (for Interrail) trains. Read therefore our blog here: [ux]https://rail.cc/blog/barcelona-marseille-nice-train/[/ux]

An other option is to travel from Florence to Civitavecchia (possible by free Regional trains via Pisa). From Civitavecchia use the direct ferry (takes about 24 hours) to Barcelona: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-ferry/civitavecchia-barcelona/22 - the ferry is not included in Interrail.

And finally: please buy your Interrail pass via our partner link [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] . Same price for you, but you support all the free information we offer. Currently we offer even a discount of 5%! Thank you! :)

Pete :)

Thanks Pete, I\'m new to rail.cc this is why I posted two posts, sorry. Thank you for your answer, now I wondder this: does this route, without reservations , make me spend two passes on the trains? Because I had 1 month and 10 flexi pass. I don\'t want to spend two pass. Thanks again for your support :)

Hi!

If you want to use one travel day only (please read more about a "travel day" here: [ux]https://rail.cc/en/how-to-interrail[/ux] you have two options:

Firenze SMN 0653 - 0840 Milano Centrale > Frecciarossa high speed train, 10€ reservation: [ux]https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation/frecciarossa/50[/ux]
Milano Centrale 0905 - 0952 Torino Porta Susa > Frecciaross high speed train, 10€ reservation
Torino Porta Susa 1011 - 1250 Chambery > TGV Italy - France high speed train, ~30€ reservation [ux]https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation/tgv-france-italia/163[/ux]
Chambery 1340 - 1534 Valence TGV > TER regional train, no reservation
Valence TGV 1621 - 2034 Barcelona Sants > TGV France - Spain high speed train, ~25€ reservation [ux]https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation/tgv-france-espana/298#rail[/ux]

So this would be very expensive - about 75€ worth of extra reservations!

Another option would be to take the ferry as mentioned by Pete - you will have to pay extra for the ferry, so overall costs will be about the same. Check the link posted by Pete for more details about the ferry.
