Hi there,
I\'ve been trying to book the Thello night train tickets with the 25% discount that the interrail website promises. Although I\'ve already read the instruction "Booking a Thello train on the Trenitalia website", there are still two problems that the instructions can\'t answer:
In order to take advance of the discount you have to fill in the 8 digits of your interrail pass order number in the Promo code box, but my interrail pass order includes two global pass tickets, my friend\'s and mine. So that means that those 8 digits of the order number are basically the same for 2 people and the website doesn\'t accept that. I already tried to put the last individual digit in each number but it didn\'t work either. Beside that I tried to use our passnumber that is located on the top right of the travel diary but it also didn\'t work. So my suggestion is that only one of us two can use the discount. As I continued with the reservation for one person the second problem occured: As soon as you have to fill in your personal data there is a blank space called "Cartafreccia" which is I think a discount card provided by the company itself. Since we only have our interrail pass and the blank space had to be filled I suggested that I have to fill in my pass number but neither the pass number nor the order number worked in that blank space. I also tried both numbers to verify my "discount coupon" number but that was also not successful. I even called the call center of Trenitalia to gather more information but the person I talked to ecplicitly told me (after 20 minutes of talking) that there is not any discount on this type of train. I don\'t know who to believe now and I hope that somebody here has got experience with this type of reservation and can help me. :)
Thanks in advance,
Alex

Hi Alex and welcome to railcc!
I dont have experience with the Thello booking process on the Trenitalia website; however you can also book on the Thello website itself where everything should be explained: [ux]rail.shop/thello[/ux]
Deeplink: [ux]https://www.thello.com/infos-services/Offres_promotionnelles/Interail_Eurail/index.html?iLangID=3[/ux]
The booking engine there is the same as the one on Trenitalia website; when being asked for your pass number this is not the order ID but the pass number printed on the bottom of your passes.
Hope that helps - and hopefully you have purchased your passes through our partner link [ux]http://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] to support our work. :)

Hello,
thanks for the response. Unfortunately the same problems that I mentioned in the second part of my original message occured trying to book it through the Thello website. I chose the train we want to take and entered the pass numbers as a promo code and I do have the chance to continue but the price doesn\'t change and in the blank spaces concerning the passengers details shortly before purchasing the booking it says "contact number" and I don\'t know what to fill in there, I tried my phone number and the pass number but it didn\'t work. Then I had to fill in my "voucher code" which is (like explained on the website) the pass number of my interrail pass. When I clicked on "check" to check if the voucher code is valid the website tells me that the voucher code is not valid. As my pass number I tried the number on the back of the ticket as well as the number in the travel diary but both didn\'t work. I hope somebody finds the mistakes I\'ve made.
Thanks in advance,
Alex

I just did the booking process on the Thello website up to the checkout and everything worked fine to me.
The Interrail discount of 25% applies to the "Adult/Standard" fare. This is the regular fare that is available anytime and can be refunded for 10% charge of the ticket price. For Milan - Paris in a 6bed couchette the standard fare is 95€, and when I select the "Special" fare the price is reduced to 71€ (-25%).
There may be cheaper options available if you book early. For instance, I did my "fake" booking for August 8 and there are still some berths at the cheaper "Go" fare left which costs 67€. This fare can be refunded for 50% charge. An even cheaper "Smart" fare is available if you book even further in advance, this cant be refunded.
When choosing the "Special" fare, the price indicated automatically changes - this happens _before_ you enter any passport numbers. To be sure you can check the "Adult" fare first, then select the "Special" fare.
As a promo code you now enter the seven digit pass number - this is printed on the front of the Interrail pass, at the bottom about in the middle, just above where time and date of the purchase have been printed. As mentioned above, entering of the pass number doesnt change the ticket price anymore, this already happened when choosing the "Special" fare.
Now, when entering passenger details you only have to fill in name, email and passport number; contact number and discount coupon can be left blank.
