Hi, We are coming from Salzburg, is there luggage storage at the Schladming train station? Is it easy to get to Glacier from the train station?

Hi and welcome to railcc!
No, there are no luggage lockers at Schladming station.
Which glacier do you want to go to?

Dachstein glacier is where we want to go - stairway to nothingness and suspension bridge etc. Do you have any suggestions as to where we can store our luggage? Thanks.

OK. Regarding the luggage I would recommend to contact Schladming-Dachstein Tourism directly: [ux]https://www.schladming-dachstein.at/en[/ux] and/or contact nearby hotels; what would be your next stop after Schladming? I assume you wont stay there overnight?
How to get to the Glacier:
Take bus 960 (departs from station ("Bahnhof") to terminus Dachstein Türlwandhütte; schedule: [ux]http://www.verbundlinie.at/stream/r7s/stv_47960s_r7s.pdf[/ux]
Single ticket is 6,50€
Gondola: [ux]http://www.derdachstein.at/en/tickets-infos[/ux]

How/when do you plan to get to Innsbruck? Most connections Schladming - Innsbruck will take you via Salzburg, most notably the last connection of the day:
Schladming 2010 - 2144 Salzburg
Salzburg 2156 - 2348 Innsbruck
So you could store your luggage in Salzburg and pick it up when changing trains.

We thought 4 hours would be enough at Dachstein so could get the 1610 train direct from Schladming to Innsbruck? So would be:
0815 from Salzburg to Schladming
1610 from Schladming to Innsbruck
Do you think that would be enough time?
I have emailed the tourism place.
Would we be able to get a taxi from Schladming to Dachstein?

Yeah, taxi is no problem of course. There are several taxi companies in Schladming and you could directly contact one of them for a quote.
About six hours would be ok if you get a taxi and make a reservation for the gondola; this should leave you with about four hours time to explore the glacier, skywalk etc... :)

Hello There,
I am planning a trip throughout Europe and during my journey from Innsbruck to Hallstatt, I have a 7 hour change wait at Schladming train station. Could you tell me if the train station closes up at night? Can we wait in there for our next train ?
Thank you for your answer

Hi Lizzie, welcome to railcc!
I am not sure about the station building, but you could at least stay in the shelters on the platform.
Anyway I am wondering about your connection that would force you to stay seven hours in Schladming. That isn\'t even the station where you would have to change to Hallstatt.

Hi Flo
Thank you for returning to me so soon. Well that change was suggested by the rail train planner when I was looking for ways to get from Innsbruck to Hallstatt (I selected the option in order to have only trains without any compulsory reservation)
But in the end we managed somehow else our trip : we had to drop Hallstatt but we are going to Salzburg. Hallstatt will be for the next trip :)
Thanks

Well there is this night train [ux]https://rail.cc/en/night-train/zurich-graz-en-465/66[/ux] which you could use between Innsbruck and Stainach-Irdning (connection to Hallstatt there) but you probably would have to pay for the 9€ seat reservation (although there are exceptions when travelling shorter distances on these night trains). Anyway, I would prefer to get some proper sleep instead of travelling such a relatively short distance on a night train. ;)
Salzburg is nice (and touristy... ;) ) as well; and it would take just 2h12min to get to Hallstatt from there.
