Hi,
I would love some advice for this part of our trip.
Doing some research I have found the summer night train stops running when we plan to travel. I was wondering what the other options there were.
Searching DB i have found a train from Budapest to Zagreb 1445-2059. Then an overnight train from Zagreb to Split 2305-0648.
Has anybody else done this journey and are there any other options?
Thanks
Eddie

Hi Eddie, welcome to railcc!

Outside of the summer season (where the Budapest - Split night trains is running daily this year: [ux]https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/budapest-split-g1204/132[/ux]) the connection with changing to the night train in Zagreb is your best option to quickly travel from Budapest to Split. Attention, the Zagreb - Split night train does not run daily outside of the (rather long) summer season: [ux]https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/zagreb-split-b821/129[/ux]

Hi Flo,
Thanks for your reply, i\'m within the dates that the night train runs from Zagreb - Split daily so hopefully there will be no issue there. Appreciate the help.

Yup, the train still runs daily in September. :)

Are you going to travel with Interrail or regular tickets?

I hope you have bought your ticket via our partner link [ux]http://rail.shop/interrail/[/ux] to support our work. ;)

Yes, for couchette and sleeper accomodation on the night train Zagreb - Split a reservation is required. Details see: [ux]https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/zagreb-split-b821/129[/ux]

Hi Flo,
I contacted the Croatian railway to see if i could book in advance for a 2sleeper for this night train. They advised me that i could not do it online and that i had to go in person to the ticket office.
This won\'t be feasable as the office will be shut when i get to zagreb at 2100.
I have found out i can book this reservation from the sncf reservation page. Are you aware of anywhere else, either online or another ticket office in a different country that i could purchase this reservation?
Thanks
Eddie

Hi Eddie,

it is new to me that this reservation is available online at [ux]https://rail.shop/sncf/reservation[/ux] - unfortunately only on the UK version... Thanks for the hint! ;)

Have you tried [ux]https://rail.shop/acprail/reservation/[/ux]?

The reservation (for both Budapest - Split and Zagreb - Split night trains) are also available at train stations in central Europe - at least in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia, Slovakia,...and probably in a few other countries as well. However, a reasonably capable clerk should be at the ticket desk. ;)
