First of all, thank you to the wonderful group of people who started and manage this page. I\'m so glad i stumbled on this before embarking on my journey to Eastern Europe. As a train lover, I wish to travel by train as much as possible. I will be flying into Istanbul and hoping to catch the night train to Bucharest ( In fact it was while googling this that i\'ve come upon this site so thanks Flo for the article :) )
1. May I know if the connecting bus from Sirkeci to Halkali station is covered in the train ticket ?
2. Also, I\'m still undecided whether to get the 4 seater couchette or the triple sleeper. While I wish to travel as cheap as possible ( it is very expensive for Asian to travel in Europe due to the currency exchange :( ), I would not want to end up being uncomfortable as it is quite a long trip to get to Bucharest. Is it worth paying an extra 8 euro for the triple sleeper?
3. Is hot water ( for drink ) available in the train ?
Cheers and many thanks in advanced for your help :)

Hi, welcome to railcc!

Thanks, I\'m glad you like our site! :)

1) Yes, the bus in included.
2) I have never travelled on the 4-bed couchette used on the Istanbul - Bucharest service. It is a modern, air-conditioned carriage of Turkish Railways TCDD. On my trip from Istanbul to Bucharest I travelled in a 3-bed sleeper of CFR (Romanian Railways) - which I had on my own by the way.. ;)
As a train lover I think the sleeper is definitely more interesting - it is very likely a former DB (German Railways) coach which has been sold to CFR and should still have lots of stickers remaining of its DB era. However, it is a bit "old", but for me that is just another reason why to choose it.
However, I cant guarantee that this kind of sleeper is used on that train. I would love to see some pictures. ;)
3) I would not count on that. Definitely bring a bottle of water with you.

Have a nice trip,
Flo

Thanks Flo for the super swift reply! Will be going for the 3 bed sleeper as per recommended.
If your travel ever takes you to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) , hit me up so I could buy you a drink/coffee and take you to nice local meal :)
This will be my first trip to Eastern Europe so will probably have more questions as i plan my route.. not the most organized person and I apologize for that.

Cheers!
