night trains need to be reserved, a reservation fee applies. if using an inter-rail pass do you only need to pay a reservation fee or is there an addition cost for the ticket? The cost shown on Snalltaget website shows 1699 Swedish kroner however the rail.cc website only shows a reservation fee of 29 euro.

Hi Harry and welcome to railcc!

You have to enter the "Kampanjkod" (Swedish version) or "Promotion code" (English version) "INTERRAIL" when booking the train on [ux]https://rail.shop/snalltaget[/ux], then the correct price of the reservation (299 SEK) will be shown.
You could also buy the reservation at a train station with international booking office (for instance in Germany), where you would pay 29€; due to conversion rates the price varies a bit from the 299 SEK you pay at Snalltaget.

You can also buy a correct Interrail reservation online from SJ (Swedish Railways) at [ux]https://rail.shop/sj/[/ux], however a small booking fee makes the reservation slightly more expensive (321 SEK).

Support our work by purchasing your official Interrail pass through our partner link: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail/[/ux] - thank you! :)

Thanks Flo. Can I check the full price for travel is the \'reservation\' fee? I\'m basically wondering if the reservation fee is just to reserve a seat and if you would then need to pay an additional fee for you night train ticket?

If you have an Interrail pass, you need only an additional reservation for a couchette (one bed in a six bed compartment or a whole compartment on your own). Your Interrail pass is your ticket, so only an additional reservation is needed.

If you do not have an Interrail pass, you would need to buy a regular ticket which includes the fare for travelling from Malmö to Berlin as well as the reservation for the couchette.

The Berlin - Malmö night train only has 6-bed couchettes, so you always need to book a bed. Either a bed in a 6 bed mixed compartment or you book a private compartment on your own (which will be much more expensive of course).
