Hello - I am trying to book an overnight train from Budapest for me and my wife and two children, but can not seem to find a way to do it? I have tried web sites from Switzerland and Hungary but that train does not come up? Is it still running? If yes, can I book it with a euro-rail pass?

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Matt

Train 462 runs

Book it at [ux]https://rail.shop/mav[/ux] and pick up the tickets in Budapest at a ticket machine in a station

Please note that booking usually opens 60 days before

Hi Matt and welcome to railcc!

You have a "Euro Rail pass" - what do you mean by that? Do you have an Interrail (for European citizens) [ux]https://rail.cc/en/interrail[/ux] or Eurail (for citizens outside of Europe) [ux]https://rail.cc/en/eurail[/ux] pass?

In case you are travelling with either a Interrail or Eurail pass you only need a reservation for the night train. Timings and reservation fares of the night train can be found here: [ux]https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/budapest-zurich-en-60466/178[/ux]

Currently, the train is diverted due to construction works in Liechtenstein and Germany with a later arrival in Zurich. Different timings are valid until July 2. Maybe thats why you didnt find the train?

Unfortunately, online reservations are not available via the webshop of Hungarian Railways: [ux]http://rail.shop/mav[/ux] (they only sell regular tickets but no Interrail/Eurail reservations only)
You can contact this agency in Budapest which could sell you reservations for collection when you are in Budapest: [ux]http://wasteels.hu/[/ux]
