My girlfriend and I are going on an interrail trip this summer and want to make it down to Athens in Greece, but I can only find trains that goes down to Athens and not up again. I have tried to find trains using the interrail app (Railplanner), the Trainose website (For trains in Greece) and the ZS website (for train connections between Serbia and Greece). I can only find trains that goes from Athens to Thessaloniki but not any further. Can someone please help me.. Thank you in advance.

Hi!

There is the night train from Belgrade via Skopje to Thessaloniki; this train currently does not run due to construction works in Serbia however it is scheduled to run again from about mid June during the summer season. This is the only train to Greece from Serbia and Macedonia. Read more here: [ux]https://rail.cc/blog/belgrade-skopje-thessaloniki-train/[/ux]

An interesting, albeit time-consuming alternative is the route via Bitola - Florina (German blog): [ux]https://rail.cc/blog/de/skopje-nach-athen-via-bitola-florina/[/ux]

You can also get to Greece from Bulgaria, using the Sofia - Thessaloniki train: [ux]https://rail.cc/blog/from-thessaloniki-to-sofia-by-train/[/ux]

Support our work by purchasing your Interrail passes via our partner link: [ux]http://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] - thank you! :)
