I am planning to travel from Barcelona to Marseille in May. I like to take renfe-SNCF train from Barcelona at 1:20PM, it arrives at Montpellier at 4:16PM and need to transfer to another train from Montpellier to Marceille at 4:33PM. There is only 17 minutes of transfer time. How can someone like me who does not speak French make it to next connection train in just 17 minutes? Is Montepellier train station very small? Or would my connection train will be waiting across the platform?

Hi Mark!

Are you going to travel with a rail pass (Interrail/Eurail) or with single tickets?

In general, 17 minutes is easily enough times to change trains in Montpellier. There are three platforms with two tracks each and several overpasses connecting the platforms: https://rail.cc/en/montpellier/montpellier-saint-roch-railway-station/l237
There are also information monitors indicating at which platform the connecting train is going to depart.
