Hi I have an Irish passport but am resident in the uk. And have lived here all my life I do not have any documentation that proves I'm a resident in the UK. As I do not intend to use my pass in either the uk or Ireland is it necessary to have proof of residency?

Hi.
A proof of residence is required if you want to buy an Interrail pass with country UK printed on it.
As you do not want to travel in Ireland or the UK, I recommend to use your Irish passport or Irish ID-card together with the Interrail pass.
So your country of residence printed on your Interrail pass is Ireland, together with the Irish passport ID-number.
