Hi

I ordered my InterRail ticket before I found out that my passport had expired, so it says my old passport number on the ticket. I haven't got my new passport yet, so I don't know my new passport number, but I still have the old one, but with a corner of the passport cut off. The new passport should arrive a few days before I have planned to leave.

Would it be acceptable to bring both the expired and the new passport to prove that it is my InterRail ticket?

Thanks
Teis

Hi Teis.
As much as my experience is: you need a valid passport or European ID-card to have with you. Even it is clearly visible that your old and new ones belong together and that you are the same person, you rely on the mood of the train staff.
I personally would try to exchange your Interrail pass.
Peter :)

No doubt, that Peter is the Interrail-guru, and for sure listen to him! But allow me to add: I have never meet trainstaff who ask for my passport, and yes I have used Interrailmore than a few times

So...

But please listen to Pete, if you can change the ticket, do it!

Thank you so much for your replies.

I called the railroad company and they told me that it's possible to get the ticket changed immediately if I go to their ticket office, which is an hour drive from where I live. So I guess that's the solution :P

Have a nice day!

Yes, that's correct. Usually the train staff don't want to see the passport - to compare it to the Interrail pass. :)
But good that you found an easy solution for your problem! Have a nice trip! :)

And if you like, next time, support rail.cc and buy your Interrail pass via [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thanks, Peter :)
