Hi everyone,
We are planning a trip to Split in September, and wonder what would be the best route from Istanbul to Split by train? Any info is very much appreciated, thank you :)

Hi!
Currently there is no train service between Istanbul and Kapikule, the night trains to Sofia and Bucharest are operated by bus between Istanbul and Kapikule. Read more here: https://rail.cc/blog/bucharest-sofia-istanbul-train/
So, you can either travel with this replacement bus or take a regular long distance bus all the way to Plovdiv or Sofia (operated by Metro Turizm for example).
From Sofia, there is a day and a night train to Belgrade, from there take the day or night train to Zagreb, then day/night train to Split. There is no other option if you want to go by train.
It will be quite a long journey and it may be faster if you take a bus from Belgrade via Sarajevo - Mostar to Split.
