Hi all, I am just trying to put together a travel plan for a two week stay in Hungary and Croatia. I know there is a night train that goes direct from Budapest to Split from the research I have done for the trip so far. I just cant seem to find the day/time it leaves and where from so I can plan hostels/hotels accordingly. I would prefer a night train as it doesn't waste a day wherever we are and it saves on a hostel stay too!

We are coming into Budapest towards the end of the Sziget Festival and hoping to have a few days after the festival has finished to have a wander around Budapest take in the sights etc before moving onto the coast of Croatia, working our way up the coast before leaving at the end of Aug. So a weekend train would be great!

Does anyone have a link as to where I can find the relevant details needed to plan this out? Also, are these tickets only still available to be purchased within the train station!? From the details I have found out, this has been the case for the past few years.

Also, the cost of the train? It was showing 180/300 HUF, cant be costing equivalent of 75p for the journey or are my conversions off?

Hi!

This is the direct night train: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/budapest-split-g1204-b15800/132

Tickets are not available online, best option is to buy locally from Hungarian Railways; a return ticket in 2nd class is 79,50€, reservation fares are in the link above.

Hi there

I am looking to buy the required supplement/seat reservations for my friend and I to travel on the Budapest to Split night train on 31st July 2016.
I have found a way to reserve seats on the ACP Rail International website, but is that all I need to buy? My friend and I will both have interrail passes.

Thanks

Charlotte

Hi Charlotte,

yes, thats all you need in addition to your Interrail pass. :)

We are official partners of interrail.eu - to support the free information and the forum on railcc, please be fair and buy your official Interrail pass via our railcc partner link: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you! :)

Great, thanks Flo!

This website has been so useful and if I'd known about it before I bought my interrail pass I definitely would have bought it through this website! I'm really sorry but both my friend and I have already bought our passes. I will be sure to recommend your site to my friends though and encourage them to buy their passes through railcc!

Thanks again,

Charlotte

Hello,

I\'ll just jump into this topic.

I\'m planning to take the night train on August 27th 2017. Budapest to Split. Is there any way to book this ahead of time online? Or should I just book it when I arrive in Budapest that week?

Thank you!

Hi!

As mentionend above you can only try and get a (seat) reservation through ACP: [ux]https://rail.shop/acprail/reservation[/ux]
Another option would be to order a reservation via the phone service of ÖBB (Austrian Railways) as described here: [ux]https://rail.cc/en/interrail-krakow-vienna-night-train/f12597#54688[/ux]

You can of course also buy it locally at Budapest, however one week in advance you might risk that the train is fully booked.

Thank you Flo!

I gave ACP a call today and they seem to have a 60 horizon for booking tickets. So they were not able to help with an August booking yet. So I\'ve sent an email on to OBB to see if they can\'t help. My final option will be to call train company in Hungry - though in truth I\'ve never actually placed a call like that in my life. What\'s a country code?!

Heh.

Thank you again.

Hi JB,

I\'d recommend to contact MAV START (Hungarian Railways) via mail at informacio_at_mav-start.hu
Alternatively you can check with WASTEELS travel agency in Budapest: [ux]http://wasteels.hu[/ux]

Thanks Flow!

I\'ve sent an email to Wasteels - this looks promising as their entire business seems to be helping travelers book train tickets.

I\'ll post back how things go!
