Hello everyone, I'm planning an Interrail along with 2 of my friends for this Summer. We will be starting around mid-July(19/20) and finishing about a month later. I'm writing to ask for your more experienced advice concerning travel routes, days to spend in each city, etc
We are from Portugal and are more interested in getting to know the Eastern rather than the central Europe, as countries like France and Germany are easier to get to during other trips.
Arrive in Brussels by plane, spending there 1/2 days. Depart from Brussels, activating our Interrail Pass, to Amsterdam staying for 2/3 days. As a way to shorten the time lost in travels, and as we don't mind bypassing Germany, the plan is to fly to Prague where we will be for another 2/3 days. From there:
Vienna - 2/3
Bratislava - 1
Budapest - 2/3
Zagreb - 1
(Night train(?))
Split/Hvar/.. - 2/3
Sarajevo(by bus, through Mostar - 7hours - 23€) - 1/2
Beograd(by bus, 7hours) - 1/2
Skopje - ?
Thessaloniki - ?
Returning home by plane from Thessaloniki. As you can see, we are a bit unsure about the time we should spend in each city. Additionally, we are questioning wether the Interrail Pass(thinking about 10 days in 1 month) will suit us better than buying individual train tickets. Also, if anyone has more detailed info about bus tickets and possibilities please let me know.
Hope you can help us! :D

Hi Diogo!
Brussels - Amsterdam: https://rail.cc/blog/amsterdam-brussels-train/
Personally, I wouldnt fly from Amsterdam to Prague - you could travel from Amsterdam to Cologne, get some beers in the old city by the Rhine, then take the night train to Prague.
Prague - Bratislava - Budapest - Zagreb is easy, nothing to worry here.
From Zagreb you could take a night train to Split https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/croatia/hr or travel during the day - the route is quite scenic. :)
Then by bus to Mostar - Sarajevo - Belgrade, no problem there.
Belgrade - Skopje - Thessaloniki: https://rail.cc/blog/belgrade-skopje-thessaloniki-train/
Interrail definitely has its value for the trips from Brussels up to Zagreb/Split. To get to Split (including Amsterdam - Prague by train) you would need eight travel days; so you could go with the 7 in 1 month pass and buy Vienna - Bratislava separately (or just spend a few hours there during the day before continuing to Budapest in the evening).
The remaining train trips Belgrade - Skopje - Thessaloniki then can be bought locally (Belgrade - Thessaloniki is 33,80€).
Regarding time to spend in each city you already have a good idea about each city. For Belgrade I would calculate with 2 days, Skopje 1, maybe two - maybe you also want to include a trip to Lake Ohrid?
