Hi all,

My friends and I are going interrailing this summer (again!) doing the following route : Budapest - Riva Del Garda - Nice - Barcelona - Madrid - Benicassim

We are planning on travelling from Riva del Garda to Budapest either late on the 1st of July or early on the second of July.

I was originally thinking of doing the following :
18:40 Budapest - Vienna 21:18
21:25 Vienna - Venice Mestre 08:12
09:02 Venice - Desenzano del Garda 10:21
And then taking a bus from Desenzano to Riva.

But I was wondering whether it would be possible ( and faster ) to get a train to somewhere closer to the north of the lake (Trento / Rovereto / Bolazano) and get a bus from there to Riva?

I am also worried about missing trains when doing 2 transfers after last years experiences interrailing.

Thanks in advance for your help,
Corm

Hi!

1) Take an earlier train to Vienna: Budapest Keleti 1740 - 2018 Wien Hbf

2) Take an even earlier train to Vienna to get the Wien - Milano night train which also stops at Peschiera del Garda and Desenzano del Garda.

3) There is no comfortable overnight option to get to Bolzano/Rovereto/Trento...maybe the Budapest - Munich night train, then by EC via Innsbruck, but this would take longer I think and would require a reservation/supplement for the EC too.

You're welcome. I'm curious what route you are going to choose in the end :)
