Hiya,
I am looking at staying in Split for a few days and then travelling to Zagreb
However, I want to leave Split early morning to plitvice lakes to spend the day there and then head up to Zagreb at the end of the day.
I don't want to have an organised tour, I just want some advice on busses in order to do this.
I have found this bus route from split to plitvice: http://www.buscroatia.com/split-plitvice/
And this from plitvice to zagreb: http://www.buscroatia.com/plitvice-lakes-zagreb/
However, the bus from split doesn't arrive until 12:50 and I'd get the 5:50 bus back to Zagreb, so I'm not sure if this will give me long enough. Any advice on what I could do? Maybe I could go to Zadar and get a bus from there?
Also, how would I go about getting these busses? Do I need to book or can I just get on in Split and then just get on the bus to Zagreb whilst I was at plitvice lakes?

I've just realised that there are more busses in July so I could get to plitvice lakes from split at 10:30 if I got the 7am bus which is better:

Anyones experiences/ advice on these busses would still be really appreciated!
Also, are the stations easy to find in Split and Plitvice lakes? And how far in advance do I need to book the busses? Could I do it a couple of days in advance?
Many thanks!

Havent been to Plitvice yet, but I never prebooked any bus while travelling on the Balkans. Show up at the station and buy your ticket. If you want, you can do it the day before but in my experience it is not necessary to book earlier than that.

Oh-those who believe that in Balkans anything is on www-and even in english. There are buses about ev 30/60 mins Spl->Zag and most can do a call about midway at a wayside halt near those lakes. Another site aiming at filling those gaps is balkanviator. And again: an old fashioned thing called guidebook can also answer all those questions and maps etc. You do not really need the latest Ifone to travel with. In spl bus=train are sidebyside, the boats too. in Zag they are a 15/20 mins walk or 2/3 tramstops ride in between.
Also as above: i really do not understand those eternal fears of seemingly any young Brit about buses being ''full'' weeks before-most likely its that they are not even listed yet.
