Hello guys!

I've been planning an Interrail trip for this summer with my girlfriend (1st August - 30th August, 15 days within one month) and we are looking for some suggestions or some adjustments you guys think we should do.

So, we will start in Lisbon, go to Madrid by a night train for a day, then Barcelona for 2 days, Paris for 3 days, Amsterdam 2 days, Berlin just for a day because we will see just the main points of interest, Praga for just a day too and we will take a night train on the day to Prague where we will stay for a day. After that we will take another night train to Vienna and again just one day there, and then Budapest. We stay in Budapest for a day and then we go to Istambul by a night train. We will be in Istanbul for a week (from Budapest to Istanbul, 37hours by train) because we want to go to Cappadocia and then we return to Budapest. After a day in Budapest we go to Ljubljana and stay there for 2 days (time to visit the city and to go to Lake Bled). Then we travel to Venice for 2 days and we go to Milan for also 2 days. Then we go to Zurich for 2 days and we finish in Rome.

To sum up, heres the route:
Lisbon - Madrid (1) - Barcelona (2) - Paris (3) - Amsterdam (2) - Berlin (1) - Prague (1) - Vienna (1) - Budapest (1) - Istanbul (8) - Budapest (1) - Ljubljana (2) - Venice (2) - Milan (2) - Zurich (2) - Rome

What do you guys think?

Thanks,
Tiago

Hi Tiago!

A very interesting route, however you should plan your trip to Istanbul and Cappadocia very carefully and might have to use some extra days to get there.
In general, the route is straightforward and wont pose great problems, however you will have some troubles getting to Istanbul and Cappadocia.

At the moment, there is no rail service into Istanbul due to construction works. To get to Istanbul from Europe, read here: https://rail.cc/blog/bucharest-sofia-istanbul-train/

From Istanbul to the east, you could go to Ankara first by high speed train, then continue to Kayseri for Cappadocia. Have a look at the website of Turkish railway TCDD for schedules.

We are official partners of interrail.eu - to support the free information and the forum on railcc, please be fair and buy your official Interrail pass via our railcc partner link: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you! :)

You cannot do BP-Ist in 1 travel day. It seems to me, that you forgot that the trips also cost time-sometimes enough to nearly take up whole day.
I would reorganise it to end in IST-decide about that later also how the bombs etc situation in Turkey developes-maybe avoid it for this year alltogether. There are scores of pretty cheap flites from IST to anywhere where Turks live in West-Eur, except at the end of holidays when their kids have to be back in school or risk big fines for not being there.

Thank you guys, I think I'm going to Croatia instead of Turkey and after that Italy. Maybe it's the best option right now... :)
